“Family is where the story begins”
“Building stronger families in our communities starts with you.”
Spending time as a family
These are all part of the recipe to building a strong family. Since our kids were young we have always had family nights with them. We would set a aside time to do things together as a family. Whether it was an activity, watching a movie or playing a board game, this time was important. We created bonds as a family
As in all relationships communication is very important. We have always had open communication as a family. We would schedule family meetings to discuss any changes, address unresolved arguments or misunderstandings. We gave our kids a safe place to voice their concerns and ask questions without feeling that they were going to get in trouble.
Having a family plan
In order to build a strong family unit you need to first understand your family. Understand your family’s needs.
My husband and I like to sit down at the beginning of every year and do a review of our personal life for the past year. Many of us do performance reviews at the end of each year in our professional lives, outlining areas of success and areas that need development as well as to set goals for the upcoming year. Why not apply that your personal lives?
